MRA Scanning Services

What is an MRA scan?

Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) is a type of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). An MRA scan provides detailed images of blood vessels without the use of catheters or surgery. Like MRI, MRA is safe and painless.

During an MRA scan, you lie on a cushioned table that moves into the scanner. An injected contrast agent may be used. MRI contrast agents rarely cause allergic reactions.

The technologist will stay in contact with you throughout the exam. When the MRA scan begins, you will hear a muffled sound for several minutes. Lie as still as possible, as any movement during this time can distort the image.
